Applications for the West Broadway Façade Improvement Program Now Available
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
West Broadway Business and Area Coalition (WBC) has been awarded funds through the City of Minneapolis Great Streets Program and the McKnight Foundation to improve properties in the West Broadway business district by providing façade improvement grants to qualifying properties. Objectives of the West Broadway Façade Improvement Program include: an increasingly dynamic visual environment of West Broadway, providing an additional incentive for businesses and property owners to improve their building facades, and creating opportunities for local artists to impact their own community.
MATCHING GRANT AMOUNT
Applicants may apply for a matching grant of up to $7,500 or 50 percent of the total project cost, whichever is lower. Applicants applying to improve their properties by adding an artistic component (designed and fabricated by an artist) are eligible for up to an additional $7,500 or 75 percent of the total project cost, whichever is lower. All grants are subject to and dependent upon the availability of funds. Owners of multiple properties can apply for more than one matching grant.
Applicants must have access to their match upon project approval. The match may come from the applicant’s cash, a bank loan, or other financing sources. Please contact Erin at West Broadway Coalition for other opportunities and funding sources.
Any existing business (with property owner’s approval) and/or commercial building owner whose building is located on West Broadway between 26th
Avenue to the west and the Mississippi River to the east and the one block contiguous (East and West) to West Broadway are eligible to apply.
